banned-fanpage

Just a quick warning not only to our members, but to all fanpage admins out there. Facebook is currently on a banning rampage, and they have been removing, and unpublishing Facebook fanpages left and right. This started about two weeks ago (end of July, 2016), and the company’s main goal is to clean up Facebook. Don’t worry, not all fanpages are in danger, Facebook is targeting fanpages that break the following rules:

Excessive foul language. Back in the past Facebook kept a closed eye on curse words, but it seems that this has changed in the past weeks. We strongly advise all fanpage admins to clean up their act and keep the content PG-13.

Inappropriate images. If it’s too edgy, don’t post it. Don’t risk your page, it’s just not worth it. Yes, edgy content spreads like wildfire, perhaps this is why Facebook went on a rampage in the first place. We’re pretty sure that Mark Zuckerberg does not want to turn Facebook into the next WorldStarHipHop, so they’re strongly going after illicit content.

Offensive memes. There was a fresh sprout of meme related pages that were usually marked “edgy teens” somewhere in their title. These edgy fanpages were just what the title described, they were super edgy and inappropriate. Today’s youth is mean, and they love offensive content, perhaps that is why so many of these pages got super popular in a relatively short time span.

What is all boils down to is that Facebook is on a crusade against offensive content, so if your fanpage falls into that category do everything you can to change your image, otherwise your Facebook fanpage may get deleted. Around 6% of our clients reported lost pages, many of them not even purchased from us. They did however have one thing in common, they were all on the offensive side.  This Facebook sweep is nothing new. Facebook is known to unpublish pages in bulk every 12-16 months or so. Just like any business they need to maintain a certain image, so expect these sweeps from time to time.

In the meantime, stay safe! We hope your fanpages stay clear of any bans or deletions.
