EdgeRank is the name commonly given to the algorithm that Facebook uses to determine what articles should be displayed in a user’s News Feed. Back in the day the algorithm was quite generous, and allowed fanpage owners to reach millions of people with relative ease. Since 2013 Facebook made some major changes, and now the algorithm uses a stricter set of rules that marketers all over the globe constantly try to beat. No on can be really sure how EdgeRank works, because Facebook didn’t release any official statements regarding their algorithm inner workings (it would be silly of them to do so, anyway). However, years of tinkering and collaborating with other fanpage owners is enough to conclude a few key factors that affect your EdgeRank score. Thomas Joslyn, a small time YouTuber and a pretty knowledgable marketer created a great 30 minute video on how EdgeRank works and how to improve your score. While 30 minutes may sound like a lot to watch we truly recommend this video. If you follow through on the guidelines within it, we can promise you increased reach and activity, and that generally translates into more ad revenue and sales.
If you have any tips on increasing the EdgeRank score we would love to hear about them in the comment section below.
